Right across from the Under the Oak Trees tailgate is where the TigerTailgating.com group sets up their gathering. They have been in the same spot of over 15 years and actually tailgated in the median on Nicholson Drive before it was removed. Two TVs are set up for multiple games to be viewed at the same time. They were able to watch LSU beat MSU and Alabama upset Georgia at the same time. Each week brings a different menu for tailgaters to sample. This week featured hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork, stuffed potatoes, and a seven layer salad. Every year they have a “camp out night” where they set up the tailgate on Friday before the game and camp out until gameday.
You can check out their full menu for the season at their website:

LSU’s Golden Band from Tigerland is in need of a new band hall. Their current facility dates back to the 1950s and the growth of the band over the years has created a need for more storage, larger changing areas, and an indoor practice room. The expected cost to provide a building that meets all of these needs is 15 million dollars. Louisiana state legislature was passed last year to fund 5 million dollars through a donation match program. LSU had until August 30th to raise 5 million dollars on their own to receive the match and did so successfully.
This weeks award for Tailgate of the Week goes to Good Times Tailgating. If you remember, a guy I sat behind at the Appalachian State game was wearing
Located across from the Indian Mounds by Peabody hall, the Mound Hounds have one of the largest tailgates on campus. Chris, the organizer of the tailgate, explained how it was setup. “We have nearly everything that your house has: a kitchen, living room, bar, den, and dining room.” There is no need for a bedroom, as this group does not rest on Saturdays on LSU’s campus. Fred is a caterer and expert in “the kitchen”. He always has a unique menu for the tailgate, much of it cooked on an industrial sized gas grill. For one game last season, he fried up some boudin egg rolls. This week was no different cooking up rice and beans, chicken wings, and french fries, to name a few dishes.
