Playing in what’s become its dome away from home, the LSU football team lived up to its defending national champion moniker. The Tigers dominated No. 14 Georgia Tech with the school’s largest first-half output in bowl history to win, 38-3, on Wednesday at the Georgia Dome.

“Taking aim at a BCS system he said “consistently misfires,” a member of Congress planned to introduce legislation Wednesday that would force college football to adopt a playoff to determine the national champion.
Rep. Joe Barton of Texas, the ranking Republican on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, didn’t specify what sort of playoff he wants—only that the BCS should go.”

Thanks to all the fans for voting for the LSU band for ESPN’s Battle of the Bands. The victory was announced live this morning on ESPN GameDay. The Golden Band will receive a $25,000 donation from Paramount and LucasFilm Ltd. for their rendition of the Indiana Jones theme song. This donation will likely go toward funding the new band hall. Check out the video below which includes Golden Girls and Mike the Tiger decked out in Indiana Jones attire.

TheTigerBlog.com and the Baton Rouge area took a pretty hard hit from Hurricane Gustav. Much of Louisiana is without power and some areas are looking at 3-4 weeks before it is restored.
The LSU vs. Troy game on Saturday September 6th has been postponed until November 15.
We will be back with new content ASAP (when we get a generator).

Despite the heat and concern about the storms approaching the gulf, the LSU Tigers win their season opener against Appalachian State, 41-13.
